I had the food processor/blender unit and the electronics died so wanted to replace the base and this was the way to go.got a new blender unit so now I have two.controls are a little different but that's okay.these are easy to learn and use too.The blender has a huge capacity.you could make margaritas for a big crowd and it's powerful.really grinds up the ice very well.
Do yourself a favor, don't buy this blender. These should have been recalled a long time ago and the cheap plastic part replaced with stainless steel. I've never liked using it because it would leak out the bottom, and recently realized the bottom piece with the blade has a crack in it. So I've bought 2 replacement blade/gasket parts, but once those crack, I'm buying a new blender. We registered for this blender because it was stainless steel, and Cuisinart usually makes a really nice product. Well, I've had better luck with my cheap $30 blender than I have with this one. What a disappointment.
Loud as hell though. It's a very nice looking blender.I put a lot of miles on this sucker, and it works great. Would still buy again just for the looks.
I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. It is extremely large and heavy compared to other blenders I've had and the large spout makes it impossible to pour liquid out without spilling it all over. Do not buy it. I have found this blender to be nothing but one big frustration. This is the first time I am writing a review for a product EVER. That is how bad this blender is. At times, it has trouble blending the smoothies I make for my toddler.
And like I said, it gets daily use. I cracked my jar :( so now I'm looking for the replacement part. But I've had this blender for 3 years and have no problems with the performance. As for the noise.uhm.it's a blender.all blenders are noisy.
My husband always tells me I should work for a fire department as a arson detector. I use it daily for smoothies using frozen fruit and ice. When I saw some negative reviews, I felt the 'need' to put in my 2 cents. Yes, you may notice a bit of a smell, not much though. The ice crush feature works great. My old blender could not handle the challenge. Truthfully, I never noticed it until I read about it in other reviews, then when I paid attention I did detect a slight smell of what you might think is the motor burning up. Maybe since it's used so much the burning smell wears off.like it's oil from the gears or something.
If you like to make smoothies or other frozen drinks, this blender will not disappoint you. I love this blender. This one does easily. I have no issues with the smell and I am extremely sensitive to odors.
